Fifth Chakra - Throat

Vishudda in Sanskrit. Element: Ether Color: sky blue Your fifth Chakra, the Throat Chakra is located in the V of the collarbone at the lower neck. It's the center of communication, sound, expression of creativity via thought, writing and speech and it holds the possibility for transformation and healing. When this Chakra is BALANCED you will have no problem expressing yourself in the world. You will know what you want and won't be afraid to ask for it, and what you ask for will always seem to come to you with little, or no effort on your part. You will feel centered, be musically or artistically inclined and a good speaker. When Vishudda is UNbalanced you may want to hold back, feel timid , be quiet or can't express your thoughts. Physical problems include hyperthyroid, sore throat, jaw problems, ear infections, sore shoulders/arm, and may grow an alcohol or drug dependency. When your throat chakra is OVER-active you are more than likely to be over-opinionated, verbally abusive and critical of others and how they live. You won't allow others to voice their opinions (it has to be your way or no way). When the throat chakra is UNDER-active you will be unable to truly express yourself. Might be considered unreliable by the people in your life, as well. You will also probably have a difficult time telling the truth or being honest with yourself. Until you find BALANCE within Vishudda, nothing in your life will work out how you'd like it to and your life will remain the same.

- - - - - - - - - - Plow and shoulder stand are good poses to enhance balance in your 5th Chakra, stimulating the thyroid gland and bringing energy to the throat area.

Exercise: Lay down and take deep breaths chanting HAM with every exhale. Do this about 10x. Now repeat "It is now safe to express my feelings and create the life I desire. I speak freely and everything I do is an expression of LOVE." (5x) Now take a deep breath and put your legs up and over your head into#plowpose. Stay there for about 5 deep breaths and put your legs down taking in your new affirmation
